Our Process

No two lives are the same. Your family, your career, your goals for 5 years, 10 years down the road … all these factors make you unique and deserving of a unique financial plan. Share your story and dreams with us and together let’s forge a financial path for you. Life is a journey, but it’s complicated! Why not have a trusted expert in the passenger seat?

We’ve crafted a series of six initial meetings to get to know you and get you started.

1st meeting: We’ll study your past financial terrain and current outlook.
We’ll ask you about your perspectives. How do you feel about your job and benefits? What financial decisions from your past are you proud of? All of those factors have led you to where you are today, and they’ll shape where you’re going.

2nd meeting: We’ll learn about your dream destination.
What are your goals for the medium and long term? Do you want to come up with a down payment for a home? Is there a charity you want to support? We want to know what makes your life worth living.

3rd meeting: We’ll chart out options to reach your destination.
Now that we know the terrain, we’ll lay out the different possible routes. We’ll factor in those unforeseen obstacles, too. You’re at a fork in the road, but we’ll help you see what lies ahead in each direction.

4th meeting: We’ll decide the best route and create your unique roadmap.
We’ve agreed on the best direction for you, so now let’s talk about how to implement it and get you on your way. Do you need a trusted attorney, accountant, or some other expert? Allow us to coordinate that for you, too.

5th meeting: We’ll map out your investments and our role as your GPS.
What investments and trades will get you to your goal? Our purpose in this meeting is to agree on how PUP will manage your money so we can take the proverbial wheel and start trading in and improving your portfolio. We offer everything from ongoing support and online tools to specific portfolio management.

6th meeting: We’ll review how much you’re spending on gas.
OK, more than just gas. (We can’t help it—we love the “journey” analogies!) We’ll ask you about your expenses from the past couple of months. We’re not here to judge. We simply want you to be aware of how your spending aligns with your goals and provide you with some accountability.

During your first year with us, we want to get to know you. But first things first. If you have something urgent you’d like our advice on, be it a new job offer, that pile of company stock or extra cash you’re sitting on, or anything else, we’ll tackle that roadblock first. You’re busy and have lots on your mind. Let us help. We listen, we bring clarity, and we help you focus. However many meetings it takes. We’re here.
